The Scope
Implementing a solution to track the location of rental bicycles in real time and gather this data into an effective user interface capable of tracking the position of the bicycles' location history.
The Main Goal
The main goal of the project is to help minimize economic losses to stolen property and to give rental companies the tools to track their products usage and demand.
The Challenge
Our Proposed Solution
One way to track cyclists using GPS is to have the cyclists download an app on there phone which will automatically send their location using sms to the app’s database. Another is to use LoRaWAN or NarrowBand Iot (NB-IoT). Using these solutions, data would be sent from an onboard device, to a receiver located some distance away. A drawback being the cyclist has to be in an area populated with receivers which are able to receive the signal containing the location information.
